A transformation of overlooked potential. From a clinical white staircase to a growing community.
With a clinical white staircase that was used solely as a passageway, the challenge was obvious:
How do we transform the staircase into a space that encourages a short stay and interactions between students, staff and guests of Design School Kolding?
The project turned out as custom made plant boxes covering the entire staircase. Enabled people to plant their own herbs, succulents and anything in between. Caring for them on the go – in between classes or lectures – and eaten for lunch.
People are already growing plants at home. We simply took the idea, brought it to our troubled staircase and blew it up in a huge scale. Plant based knowledge-sharing immediately started to happen and new friendships were made.
